Edwin Cook, MD
Topic: Program for Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Dr. Edwin Cook is a leading expert in neurodevelopmental disorders, serving as the Earl M. Bane Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Center for Neurodevelopmental Disorders at UI Health. As the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, his research has focused on understanding the genetic and neurobiological underpinnings of conditions like autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia. With a career dedicated to advancing psychiatric care for young individuals, Dr. Cook’s talk will explore emerging therapies and intervention strategies for neurodevelopmental disorders, offering insights into how early diagnosis and treatment can impact long-term outcomes.
David Cohn, MBA
Topic: Update on Technology in the Treatment of Severe Mental Illness
David Cohn is a trailblazer in the intersection of mental health and technology. As the CEO and Founder of Sanarte, he has pioneered digital and AI-driven approaches to improving mental health care delivery. In addition, as a Board Member of Josselyn, a community-based mental health organization, Cohn has been instrumental in advocating for accessible and technology-integrated mental health solutions. His presentation will provide an overview of the latest advancements in technology-driven treatments for severe mental illness, highlighting innovations in telemedicine, wearable devices, and AI-powered diagnostics.
Jubao Duan, PhD
Topic: Psychiatric Genetics and Functional Genomics in Schizophrenia
Dr. Jubao Duan is a distinguished geneticist and neuroscientist, holding the Charles R. Walgreen Research Chair and serving as Director of Stem Cell and Functional Genomics in Psychiatry at Endeavor Health NorthShore Hospitals. He is also Co-Director of the Center for Psychiatric Genetics and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago. His research delves into how genetic variations influence schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders, utilizing stem cell models and functional genomics to uncover potential treatment pathways. In his presentation, Dr. Duan will share the latest breakthroughs in schizophrenia genetics, discussing how these discoveries are shaping precision medicine approaches for mental health.

Topic: Digital Phenotyping
Dr. Tom Insel is a renowned neuroscientist and psychiatrist, best known for his tenure as Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (2002–2015). Currently, he is the Executive Chair and Co-Founder of Vanna Health, an organization focused on improving community-based care for individuals with serious mental illness. A champion of digital mental health solutions, Dr. Insel has been at the forefront of developing digital phenotyping—a method that leverages smartphone data to track and predict mental health fluctuations. His talk will explore how digital phenotyping can revolutionize schizophrenia care, offering a future where real-time monitoring and intervention become integral to treatment.
