A recent study found that Millennials and Gen Z are experiencing higher rates of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, than older generations, with cases rising significantly over time.
Younger cohorts—especially those born around 2000—show up to 70% higher rates of new psychosis diagnoses compared to earlier generations.
Overall, the trend suggests earlier onset and increasing prevalence, though researchers say more work is needed to understand why.
